10 Days Uganda Primate Safari
This 10-day journey is designed for primate lovers. You’ll track endangered mountain gorillas twice in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, encounter habituated chimpanzees in Kibale Forest, and search for the rare golden monkeys in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Along the way, enjoy game drives, boat safaris, and the stunning landscapes of the Pearl of Africa.
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe
Welcome to Uganda! Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your Taste Africa Safaris guide will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. Relax after your flight, or take a sunset stroll along the shores of Lake Victoria.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, drive west toward Kibale Forest — home to the highest concentration of primates in East Africa. The journey takes you through lush countryside, tea plantations, and traditional villages. Arrive in the afternoon and settle into your lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest
Wake early for a briefing at the park headquarters. Enter the forest with expert rangers and track habituated chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Witness their playful behavior, hear their iconic pant-hoot calls, and observe them swinging through the canopy. You may also spot red colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys.
Optional: Evening community walk or Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary visit.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Boat Safari
After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Check into your lodge, then head to the Kazinga Channel for a 2-hour boat safari. This 40km channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George and is teeming with hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, and elephants drinking at the water’s edge. Watch for spectacular birdlife — including African fish eagles and kingfishers.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive & Transfer to Bwindi
Wake early for a sunrise game drive in the Kasenyi Plains. Search for lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and antelopes. After lunch, drive south to the misty hills of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest — home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

Day 6: First Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
This is the day you’ve been waiting for. After a morning briefing, enter Bwindi’s dense jungle with your ranger guide. The trek can take anywhere from 1 to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas built their nests the night before. Once you find them, you’ll spend one unforgettable hour observing a family of mountain gorillas — watching mothers groom their babies, silverbacks assert their dominance, and juveniles play. The experience is nothing short of life-changing.

Day 7: Second Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Enjoy a well-deserved rest in the morning, or opt for a second gorilla trek (permit required — highly recommended for photographers and serious enthusiasts). Alternatively, take a guided nature walk through the forest, visit the Batwa pygmy community to learn about their ancient forest-dwelling culture, or simply soak in the views from your lodge.

Day 8: Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park – Golden Monkey Trek
Drive south to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, part of the Virunga Massif. In the afternoon, trek to see the endangered golden monkeys — lively, beautiful primates found only in this region. Watch them leap through bamboo forests as they feed and play.

Driving Time: Approx. 2–3 hours
Day 9: Optional Hike or Return to Kampala/Entebbe
Choose your adventure:
Option 1: Hike the Sabinyo Gorge or climb to the border of three countries (Uganda, Rwanda, DRC).
Option 2: Begin your journey back to Kampala/Entebbe with stops at the Equator for photos and local craft markets.
Enjoy a farewell dinner in Kampala.

Day 10: Departure
After breakfast, your guide will transfer you to Entebbe International Airport for your flight home. End of safari.
